Townsend, Delaware — Wendell Bowser, 42, of Wilmington, Delaware, was arrested for multiple felony fraud-related charges following an investigation by the Delaware State Police. The investigation began after troopers responded to a report of an attempted theft at a residence in Townsend on November 12, 2024.
During the investigation, law enforcement discovered that Bowser had attempted to purchase the property with a fraudulent check and had provided forged bank documents in the process. Further inquiries revealed that Bowser was connected to similar fraudulent activities in Delaware, North Carolina, and Virginia.
As a result, Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Bowser, who was apprehended on November 25, 2024, at the Probation and Parole Office in New Castle.
Bowser now faces several serious felony charges, including:
Two counts of Forgery in the 1st Degree
Attempted Theft of Property valued at $100,000 or more
Issuing a Bad Check in the amount of $1,500 or more
Two counts of Falsifying Business Records
Bowser was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $44,000 secured bond.
