Wei Ping Sun Arrested in $100,000 NYC Scam Targeting Woman

Wei Ping Sun, a suspect from Queens, was arrested in connection to a $100,000 scam targeting a Brooklyn woman. The woman was deceived into handing over the large sum of money after a fake tech support call, marking a rise in similar fraud cases in the city.

Meanwhile, in a separate but related incident, a California man almost lost his life savings to a scam involving a pop-up message on his computer. The scammer convinced the man to send $20,000 to New York City. After mailing the package, the victim contacted the NYPD, and Detective Justin Guzman sprang into action, quickly recovering the cash before it could reach the fraudsters.

Both cases highlight the increasing prevalence of scams targeting victims, often involving fraudulent tech support and gift card requests. The NYPD continues to warn the public and take swift action to prevent such scams.
