Waterbury Men Arrested After Police Seize Drugs and Firearm

WATERBURY, Conn. – Two men were arrested in Waterbury on Tuesday after police seized drugs and a firearm during a traffic stop. The Waterbury Police Department was conducting patrols in the Willow Street area as part of efforts to combat violence when they made the stop.

Officers identified the driver as 28-year-old Julian Carey and the passenger as 32-year-old Michael Dileo, both residents of Waterbury. A search of the vehicle revealed the following items:

21 grams of crack-cocaine
25 bags of heroin
24 pills
71 capsules containing crack-cocaine (totaling 33 grams)
8 grams of cocaine
$135 in cash
A Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm firearm
Upon further investigation, police determined Carey was a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms. Carey was charged with multiple firearm offenses, while Dileo faces narcotics possession charges. Carey is being held on a $1 million bond and is scheduled for a court arraignment on Wednesday. Dileo was released on a Promise to Appear and will face court at a later date.
