Warangal Thief Arrested with Stolen Goods Worth Rs 28.5 Lakh

A thief, involved in several theft cases across Warangal, was arrested on Tuesday after police recovered stolen goods worth Rs 28.5 lakh from him.

Warangal Police Commissioner Amber Kishor Jha announced that a special team apprehended Kondapalli Dharmaraju, a resident of Rayaparthy village, after he was linked to numerous thefts within the Warangal Police Commissionerate limits. The recovered items included 334 grams of gold jewelry, 1.6 kg of silver jewelry, Rs 13,000 in cash, a two-wheeler, and a mobile phone.

Dharmaraju is suspected of committing 17 thefts across various police stations in Warangal, including 8 at Kakatiya University Campus Police Station, 2 each at Hanamkonda and Hasanparthy, and one each at Subedari, Sangem, Ghanpur, Palakurthi, and Devaruppula Police Stations.

Police had observed a pattern in these thefts and formed a special investigation team under the supervision of Central Zone DCP Sheikh Salima to track down the thief. The breakthrough came on Tuesday when police received reliable information that Dharmaraju was headed to Kakatiya University Campus to sell the stolen items. City Crime Station personnel and KU police conducted a joint check, leading to his arrest.

During questioning, Dharmaraju confessed to the thefts. He was presented before the court and sent to judicial remand.
