Visakhapatnam Police Bust Major Drug Trafficking Operation, Seize 122 Kg of Ganja

In a major drug trafficking operation, Visakhapatnam City Police successfully intercepted a significant shipment of Ganja on December 1st, leading to the seizure of 122.042 kilograms of contraband and the arrest of four suspects. The raid took place in the Allipuram area, following a credible tip-off.

During a press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ajitha Vejandala revealed that the operation resulted in the apprehension of four smugglers, all from Vaishali, Bihar. The arrested individuals have been identified as Dhanjay Kumar (23), a drug peddler, Praduman Ray (29), another drug peddler, Indradev Ray (39), a transporter, and Santosh Kumar (36), also a transporter. They were arrested around 5:30 PM on the day of the raid and have been remanded in judicial custody.

The police recovered 64 packets of Ganja, weighing a total of 122.042 kg, hidden in two boxes with courier labels addressed to Delhi. The shipment contained 20 packets of 2 kilograms each and three yellow plastic bags with 44 additional packets. Along with the drugs, the police also seized four mobile phones, including three Android devices and one keypad phone.

Despite the success of the operation, three suspects remain at large. The police are continuing their efforts to track down the remaining members of the drug trafficking syndicate. This bust highlights the ongoing vigilance and commitment of Visakhapatnam police to combat drug trafficking and protect the community from the harmful effects of illicit substances.
