Virugambakkam Police Arrest Man for Attempted Methamphetamine Smuggling

On Wednesday, the Virugambakkam Police arrested R. Anbu Giri, a 35-year-old man from Diaz Colony in Royapettah, for attempting to smuggle methamphetamine from Bengaluru through a courier service.

The police received a tip-off about a suspicious parcel being sent to a residence in Saligramam. Acting on the information, a team from the Virugambakkam Police Station laid a trap at the location. When Anbu Giri took delivery of the parcel, he was immediately arrested. Upon inspection, the parcel was found to contain 3.5 grams of methamphetamine.

According to the police, Anbu Giri had arranged for the drug to be couriered from Bengaluru through an acquaintance, intending to distribute it in Chennai. The methamphetamine was seized, and further investigations are underway to identify any other individuals involved in the drug trafficking operation.

The arrest highlights the Virugambakkam Police’s continued efforts to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety in the region. Authorities have called on citizens to report any suspicious activities related to drugs or illegal substances.
