Vincent Wolf Pleads Guilty to Embezzling Union Funds

FREEDOM, Pa. — Vincent Wolf, 57, of Freedom, Pennsylvania, has pled guilty to embezzling assets from the United Steelworkers Local 623, a labor union, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania announced today.

Embezzlement Scheme Revealed by Audit
From April 2013 through April 2021, Wolf served as the financial secretary for United Steelworkers Local 623 in Freedom. In this capacity, Wolf was responsible for maintaining the union’s financial records, issuing payments to officers, and preparing annual reports.

Following a loss in his re-election bid for the position, an audit of the union’s finances revealed significant discrepancies. The investigation found that Wolf had been diverting union funds for personal use. This included writing checks to himself, making unauthorized ATM withdrawals, and using the union debit card for personal expenses such as meals and alcohol.

Total Embezzled: $14,695
The audit confirmed that Wolf embezzled a total of $14,695 over the course of his tenure.

Legal Consequences and Sentencing
U.S. District Judge Marilyn J. Horan has scheduled Wolf’s sentencing for June 4, 2025. He faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and could be fined up to $10,000 or twice the amount of the funds he embezzled, whichever is greater.

This case highlights the serious consequences of embezzling funds from unions and public organizations, reinforcing the importance of integrity in positions of financial responsibility.
