Vinayak Awale Arrested for Girlfriend’s Brutal Murder in Wakad

The Wakad Police in Pune have successfully apprehended Vinayak Anil Awale, who is the primary suspect in the brutal murder of his live-in partner, Shivani Somnath Supekar. Following a lengthy manhunt, Awale was arrested in Solapur, Maharashtra.

Shivani Supekar, aged 28, was discovered dead on September 11, 2024, in an auto-rickshaw near Jagatap Nagar in Thergaon. It was later confirmed that she was in a relationship with the 35-year-old Vinayak Awale.

Her body was found parked outside her mother’s residence, and it soon became clear that she had been murdered. The investigation revealed that after committing the crime, Vinayak fled the scene.

To track down the accused, Wakad Police deployed two teams. Their investigation led them to believe that Vinayak had fled to Bijapur, Karnataka. Based on this information, a team of officers followed his trail as he made his way back to Solapur. He was eventually arrested near the Solapur Railway Station.

Upon questioning, Vinayak confessed to strangling Shivani, driven by suspicions of infidelity. His criminal history includes multiple offenses such as theft, assault, and drug-related charges.

The case has been overseen by Senior Police officials, including Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Shashikant Mahanwar. The investigation continues under the leadership of Police Sub-Inspector Sachin Chavan.
