Vijayawada GRP Arrests Three, Recovers Rs64 Lakh in Theft Case

The Vijayawada Government Railway Police (GRP) successfully apprehended three individuals and recovered a significant sum of Rs 64 lakh in cash on Thursday.

The case unfolded on January 25, when a theft was reported at the Rajamahendravaram-Vijayawada railway station. The victim reported the theft of a bag containing Rs 64 lakh. In response, GRP Vijayawada initiated a swift investigation and formed three special teams to track down the culprits.

The investigation led to the identification of the prime accused, Akula Sai Krishna, who, along with his accomplices, Pendem Prasanna Kumar and Ulluri Mahesh Kumar, meticulously planned the theft. According to GRP Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) G Ratna Raju, Sai Krishna was familiar with the victim’s travel plans and hatched a strategy to divert him and steal the bag. The trio was arrested near the Vijayawada railway station after their suspicious behavior was noticed.

The police have successfully recovered the full sum of Rs 64 lakh and have confirmed that further investigations are underway.
