Victor Casado Convicted of Rape and Drug Charges in Schenectady

Schenectady, NY – A Schenectady County jury has convicted Victor Casado, 27, on a six-count indictment, including serious charges of rape and drug possession. The jury delivered its verdict on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, following a trial that began on May 12 in Schenectady County Court.

Casado was found guilty of:

Rape in the First Degree

Rape in the Third Degree

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree

Tampering with Physical Evidence

Two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree

The charges stem from an incident in which Casado sexually assaulted a woman while she was physically helpless. The victim reported the assault to police within hours of waking up and underwent a Sexual Assault Nurse Examination at Ellis Hospital. The examination revealed sperm and male DNA, which were later confirmed to match Casado’s DNA sample.

When police arrived at Casado’s apartment, he initially answered the door but fled to a neighboring unit, leaving behind a black plastic bag containing drugs and paraphernalia. Testing confirmed the presence of heroin and fentanyl.

During the trial, Casado testified that the victim had consented to intercourse, but the jury rejected his account and found him guilty of both rape charges.

Casado now faces substantial prison sentences:

8 to 25 years for Rape in the First Degree

5 to 15 years for Rape in the Third Degree

2 to 12 years for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance

1 to 4 years for Tampering with Evidence

Upon his release, he will be required to register as a sex offender.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 23, 2025, at 10 AM.
