On March 13, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced the arrest of Sebastian Velasquez-Perez, a 22-year-old Venezuelan national, following his involvement in a drug overdose incident in Federal Way, Washington.
Velasquez-Perez was discovered unresponsive in his motel room on March 8. Motel staff quickly administered NARCAN (naloxone) and performed CPR, reviving him before he was transported to St. Francis Hospital for treatment. Following his recovery, Velasquez-Perez was taken into custody. Authorities had obtained a court order to search his room, leading to the discovery of large quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl pills, and heroin.
The DEA seized 5 bags of meth (about 3.2 kilograms), 12 bags of an unknown powder, 5,000 fentanyl pills, and 2 bags of suspected heroin. Additionally, $8,000 in cash, cellphones, and drug residue were found in the room. Law enforcement confirmed there were no documents proving Velasquez-Perez’s legal presence in the U.S.
Velasquez-Perez remains in federal detention, awaiting a hearing scheduled for March 17. The investigation continues as authorities look into possible trafficking connections.
