Vanessa Rodriguez, Kahlaya McAlphin Arrested for Identity Theft

Two women were arrested in Southbury after allegedly attempting to use a stolen ID at a bank drive-through.

According to police, officers responded to Ives Bank on Main Street South on Saturday following reports of a woman using fraudulent identification and a stolen check.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Vanessa Rodriguez, admitted to wearing a wig to resemble the person on the stolen ID. Her passenger, 22-year-old Kahlaya McAlphin, was also taken into custody.

Rodriguez faces multiple charges, including third-degree forgery, third-degree identity theft, third-degree attempted larceny, criminal impersonation, and possession of drug paraphernalia. McAlphin was charged with third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both women were released on $5,000 bonds and are scheduled to appear in court next week.
