Kootenai County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a suspect in an armed robbery that took place at the Hayden Quick Stop on Saturday evening. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Vance Groene, was taken into custody on Sunday after detectives linked him to the crime using security footage.
The robbery occurred just before 6:30 p.m. at the Hayden Quick Stop, located at 1615 W. Hayden Ave. According to the victim’s report, a masked man with a gun stole money from the cash register and fled the scene.
Detectives reviewed security footage and identified Groene as the potential suspect. Following their investigation, detectives located Groene at a residence in Hayden, where he admitted to his involvement in the robbery. Upon his arrest, officers recovered the stolen money and a gun at the scene.
Groene was booked into the Kootenai County jail and is facing charges related to the armed robbery.
