Tyler Man Sentenced to 45 Years for Shooting Incident Involving 3-Year-Old
TYLER, Texas (KETK) — Darius Jubarn’e Davis, 31, was sentenced to 45 years in prison on November 15 following his involvement in a shooting incident in Tyler that left a 3-year-old child injured.
Davis, a Tyler resident, pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance in amounts between four and 200 grams, according to Smith County court records.
While Davis had originally faced an aggravated assault charge for using a deadly weapon, that charge was later dropped. He received a 45-year sentence for the firearm offense and 20 years for the drug-related charge.
The incident occurred in March when a stray bullet hit a 3-year-old in the buttocks. The child was rushed to a local hospital but was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Davis’ sentences began on November 15, with jail credit of 248 days granted. He will serve his time in state prison.
