Two Suspects Arrested in Northstate Retail Theft Spree

Redding, Calif. — Two suspects involved in an organized retail theft operation that spanned several Northstate cities, including Chico, Red Bluff, and Redding, were arrested, according to the Redding Police Department (RPD).

The investigation began when an officer responded to a report of a stolen high-value speaker from Best Buy in Redding. Surveillance footage captured clear images of the suspects’ car, later identified as Jeremy Chaiet, 41, and Oscar Garcia, 23, both from Eureka.

After further investigation, an officer located the suspects’ vehicle on Eureka Way. Inside the car, RPD officers found the stolen speaker, along with a large quantity of other stolen goods.

Both Chaiet and Garcia admitted to targeting retail stores, including Home Depot, Target, and Costco, in Chico, Red Bluff, and Redding. They confessed that their goal was to steal merchandise and resell it for profit.

RPD is now working closely with other law enforcement agencies to build a comprehensive case against the suspects. Chaiet and Garcia are facing multiple felony charges related to theft and organized retail crime.
