In a significant drug bust, Pritam Chowdhury and Satyam Chowdhury, two siblings from West Bengal, were arrested on Tuesday, November 26, for transporting 18kg of ganja worth Rs 4.5 lakh. The brothers, who are ganja addicts and work as cooks, had purchased the dry ganja from Shalimar, West Bengal, on November 25, and were en route to Mumbai via Hyderabad.

The police apprehended the two accused while they were waiting to board a train to Mumbai. Upon investigation, the brothers were booked under the NDPS Act, which prohibits the production, cultivation, sale, purchase, transport, storage, and consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance in India.

The police have confirmed that the brothers had planned to deliver the ganja in Mumbai, where they were likely to distribute or sell the drugs. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the source of the drugs and whether there are further links to a larger trafficking network.
