Two Nihangs Arrested in Murder of Lovepreet Singh

In a breakthrough, the city police have arrested two Nihangs in connection with the murder of Lovepreet Singh, who was fatally attacked outside Mohini Park near Khalsa College four days ago. The arrested individuals have been identified as Surinder Singh, alias Luv (25), a resident of Mattewal, and Kuldeep Singh (32), from Mohalla Baba Jeevan Singh.

According to Baljinder Kaur, the wife of the deceased, Lovepreet and his friend Jaspal Singh had gone to the market in a car on March 5. Shortly after, Jaspal called Baljinder, informing her that Lovepreet had been attacked by some Nihangs after a heated argument. When Baljinder reached the scene, she found several Nihangs attacking her husband with sharp weapons while also damaging their car. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Lovepreet was declared dead on arrival.

During the investigation, Vishaljit Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), revealed that Lovepreet was also a Nihang. It was discovered that the incident occurred after the vehicles of the two parties collided. What began as a heated argument quickly escalated into a violent confrontation when the Nihangs attacked Lovepreet with swords and sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.

Following the attack, the accused fled the scene in their vehicle. Police managed to track down Surinder Singh and Kuldeep Singh, leading to their arrests. Further investigation is underway to uncover more details regarding the motive behind the murder.
