Two Men Arrested in Murder of Nycolas Shields in Dallas

Dallas police have arrested two men in connection with the fatal shooting of Nycolas Shields, a Memphis man who was gunned down last September in Northwest Dallas.

Sean Alford, 31, was arrested last month in Sweetwater, Texas, while Cortez Moy, 32, was apprehended over the weekend. Both men face charges of murder for the death of Shields.

On September 9, 2023, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Shields, 31, was stopped at a red light near the Valero Gas Station at Walnut Hill and Composite Drive when he was ambushed. According to investigators, the suspects’ vehicle stopped a few cars behind Shields, and the shooter exited the passenger side, ran to Shields’ car, and fired several shots through the window before fleeing the scene.

“Several cars back in line, the suspect vehicle stopped. They were waiting. You see a suspect exit the passenger side of that vehicle, ran straight to my victim’s car, fired several shots through the window, ran back to the suspect vehicle and fled the location,” said Detective Jake Morgan of the Dallas Police Department in a December interview with FOX 4’s Shaun Rabb.

The case was featured on FOX 4’s Trackdown, which helped bring attention to the investigation.

Police have not yet revealed a motive for the shooting or disclosed how they identified the suspects.
