Two Men Arrested in Disorderly Incident Near Wilmington Sporting Event

Wilmington, DE — Two men were arrested following a disruptive incident involving a large crowd near a sporting event in Wilmington on Friday night. The Wilmington Police Department responded to the 400 block of Garasches Lane, where over 4,000 people attended the event.

Once the venue reached capacity, those unable to enter the event began to gather outside, leading to a disorderly scene. Police reported physical altercations, property damage, and attempts to force entry into the venue by pulling on doors and throwing objects. During the disturbance, one individual shattered a glass door, and another pushed a uniformed police officer to the ground. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the officers or the public.

Johnnie English, 37, and Zamir McNeely-Coles, 28, were arrested in connection with the incident. English faces charges of criminal mischief over $1,000 and resisting arrest. He was issued a criminal summons and released on his own recognizance. McNeely-Coles was charged with offensive touching, arraigned, and also released on his own recognizance.

The Wilmington Police Department reminds the public that all charges are allegations, and those accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
