Two Men Arrested After Alleged Armed Road Rage Incidents in MD

PIKESVILLE, MD – Maryland State Police have arrested two men and seized loaded firearms following two separate alleged armed road rage incidents in Baltimore and Prince George’s Counties.

The accused individuals are William Shockey, 71, of Baltimore, Maryland, and Charles Provost, 70, of College Park, Maryland. Both face charges related to assault and firearm offenses. Shockey is currently being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center, while Provost is awaiting an initial court appearance.

The first incident occurred on February 18, when troopers from the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack received a complaint about a road rage altercation on I-695 near Liberty Road. The victim reported that the driver of a red Mustang, later identified as Shockey, had brandished a firearm. No injuries were reported.

The Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crimes Initiative led the investigation and identified Shockey’s vehicle traveling in the area on February 19. Following an interview and a search warrant at Shockey’s residence, authorities seized a loaded handgun.

The second incident unfolded several hours later when troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack received another road rage complaint on Route 1 in Prince George’s County. The victim claimed that Provost had displayed a firearm multiple times during the altercation, though no injuries occurred. Through further investigation, Provost was identified as the suspect, and authorities executed search warrants at his vehicle and residence, seizing another loaded handgun.

Both arrests highlight the ongoing commitment of the Maryland Department of State Police to tackle gun violence and enhance safety on the state’s highways. Police continue to investigate other incidents, including the murders of Delonte Hicks, Charles Marks, and Nyah Hairston.
