Two Drug Smugglers Arrested in Ferozepur with 23kg of Opium

In a major drug bust, the CIA staff of Ferozepur police arrested two drug smugglers and seized 23 kg of opium on Saturday. The accused, Sucha Singh (50) and Sarj Singh (53), were apprehended while transporting the narcotic substance from Madhya Pradesh. Both have been charged under Sections 18/61/85 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Talwandi Bhai police station.

According to Ferozepur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Saumya Mishra, the accused were history-sheeters and had initially been involved in farming before venturing into the transport business. After suffering significant losses in their transport business, they reportedly turned to the drug trade as a means to recover their financial losses.

Following their arrest, the accused were presented in court on Saturday. The police are continuing their investigation into the drug trafficking network.
