Residents of Shiv Park Colony in Karni Vihar took matters into their own hands on Wednesday when they caught two burglars attempting to flee after robbing a house on Sirsi Road. The burglars were overpowered by locals and tied to an electricity pole, awaiting police arrival. Meanwhile, a third burglar managed to escape with the stolen valuables, and a search has been launched to locate him.
The gang of thieves, consisting of at least three to four members, had broken into the house of Gopal Lal Kumawat and his wife, who were away at the time. The burglars targeted gold, silver jewelry, and cash. A nearby resident noticed suspicious activity and alerted her husband, prompting a quick response from the community. Anirudh Singh, a retired Army personnel, led the charge, gathering other residents to confront the burglars.
Despite the burglars brandishing weapons and attempting to attack the residents, the determined locals fought back. Two of the suspects, Dipanshu and Manish, were successfully restrained, while the third managed to flee on a motorcycle with the stolen goods.
The police identified the arrested burglars, Dipanshu and Manish, both residents of Sanganer Sadar and Shyam Nagar, respectively. The duo are reportedly habitual offenders with multiple theft and burglary cases registered against them. The police are continuing their search for the third burglar who escaped.
