SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. — Two Atlanta residents were arrested in Santa Rosa County last week after deputies uncovered a criminal operation involving fake IDs, cloned credit cards, and narcotics during a routine traffic stop.
The suspects, 48-year-old Dwayne Britford and 24-year-old Kashan Hughes, were arrested after their vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation and distracted driving. What initially appeared to be a routine stop quickly revealed multiple illegal activities, according to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of:
1 cloned credit card
47 gift cards
20 blank magnetic strip cards
1 portable card cutter
2 laptops and a printer
3 unopened DeWalt tool sets
$4,312 in cash
A small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia
30 fake Tennessee driver’s licenses with the drivers’ photos but different names and birth dates
Britford was charged with 30 counts of possession of forged driver’s licenses, possession of a cloned credit card, marijuana possession (less than 20 grams), and drug paraphernalia. Hughes faces four counts of possession of forged driver’s licenses, marijuana possession, and drug paraphernalia charges. Both suspects are known to have extensive criminal histories involving theft, fraud, and narcotics.
Britford remains in Santa Rosa County Jail with a bond set at $78,500 and a hold from Madison County, Mississippi. Hughes was released from jail on Friday on a $11,000 bond.
Additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.
