In a major bust on Saturday, Tambaram police seized 110kg of ganja smuggled from Visakhapatnam and arrested two men in connection with the trafficking. This follows a 30kg ganja seizure on Friday, highlighting the police’s ongoing crackdown on drug-related crimes in the region.
The operation began after a tip-off about a large consignment near Perumbakkam. Officers from the Pallikaranai Prohibition and Enforcement Wing (PEW) set up surveillance and spotted two men behaving suspiciously along Nookampalayam Main Road. Upon intercepting the suspects, M Appalanaidu (42) and G Satthibabu (32), the police discovered the 110kg of ganja in their possession.
According to the police, the duo had smuggled the contraband from their hometown of Visakhapatnam and planned to sell it to construction workers and other regular customers in areas like Perumbakkam and Pallikaranai.
Following their arrest, the suspects were presented before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. Police have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying the fight against narcotics trafficking in the city to protect citizens from the devastating effects of drug abuse.
