As part of an intensified anti-drug drive, Nurpur district police intercepted a vehicle on Bodh-Chakki-Dhar link road on Wednesday and recovered 2.950 grams of charas after conducting a search. The vehicle, with registration number HP 01K-5700, was stopped by police during a naka set up following a tip-off from the CIA team.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Dharam Chand Verma, confirmed that two men, Raj Kumar and Roop Lal, both from Mandi district, were arrested. The police suspect that they are drug peddlers operating in the inter-state border area. The car was impounded as part of the investigation.
A case under the NDPS Act has been filed against the accused, and they are scheduled to be produced in court for police remand to facilitate further investigation. ASP Verma assured that the police would continue their efforts to crack down on the drug mafia in the region.
