Two Arrested in Moore County for Prescription Fraud and Drug Trafficking
Moore County, NC — Two individuals from out of town have been arrested in Moore County after a drug investigation uncovered multiple charges related to prescription fraud, controlled substances, and identity theft.
On March 10, 2024, Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrests of Kasean Jones, 19, of Concord, and Cherri Armstrong, 21, of Mooresville. The arrests followed an investigation into prescription fraud and drug trafficking in the area.
According to Sheriff Fields, authorities seized 140 milliliters of Promethazine with Codeine, a Schedule V controlled substance, and discovered that the suspects attempted to fraudulently obtain an additional 240 milliliters. Promethazine with Codeine is classified under the North Carolina Controlled Substance Act and is commonly associated with illicit use.
Jones and Armstrong were each charged with numerous offenses, including:
- Obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery
- Obtaining property by false pretense
- Two counts of trafficking opium or heroin
- Three counts of identity theft
- Multiple counts of attempting to obtain property by false pretense
- Attempting to traffic opiates by possession
- Felony conspiracy
- Maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for controlled substances
Jones was given a bond of $500,000, while Armstrong’s bond was set at $300,000. Both individuals remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
The Moore County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case, with both suspects facing serious charges related to their alleged involvement in drug trafficking and fraudulent activities.
