Mechanicsville, MD – On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested two suspects in connection with a homicide that took place earlier that morning. At 5:28 AM, deputies responded to an apartment in the 29000 block of Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville, where they found 54-year-old Raymond Franklin Woods Jr. deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. He was discovered lying on a couch.
The investigation, led by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, revealed that the gunshot wound was a homicide. The Crime Lab Unit and a forensic investigator from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner assisted in the case.
As a result of their investigation, 38-year-old Marvin Orlando Johnson of Mechanicsville was charged with First-Degree Murder, Second-Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Crime of Violence, First-Degree Assault, and Second-Degree Assault.
Marlee Lynn Stokes, 37, of Charlotte Hall, was also arrested and charged as an Accessory After the Fact to First-Degree Murder and Second-Degree Murder.
Both suspects are currently being held at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown with no bond.
