Two Arrested in Kochi for Online Investment Scam

In Kochi, Ernakulam Town North police have arrested two individuals, Gary Das (67) from Mayyanad in Kollam and Santosh Kumar (57) from Kakkanad, for their involvement in an online investment scam. The pair allegedly convinced a resident of Kaloor to invest in Machthaber Inferno Private Ltd, promising returns of up to 30%.

The victim transferred Rs7,10,000 from his wife’s bank account to various accounts controlled by the accused. Police apprehended Das and Kumar in Kollam, revealing that they had defrauded multiple victims using similar tactics.

Gary Das has a history of cheating cases registered against him at both Iravipuram police station in Kollam and Cubbon Park police station in Bengaluru. In a separate operation, police also discovered 2.48g of MDMA concealed at his residence, where he confessed to buying drugs in bulk and selling them to young people and college students.

The arrests were made under the supervision of Kochi city deputy commissioner Sudarshan K S and Ernakulam Central ACP C Jayakumar, with the operation led by Inspector Vinod R. Further investigations are ongoing to identify additional individuals involved in these crimes.
