Two Arrested in Deadly Inglewood Catalytic Converter Theft

Inglewood, Calif. — March 9, 2025 – Two men have been arrested after a fatal shooting outside a home in Inglewood, California. The suspects, Wilver Alberto Rabanales and Jose Christian Saravia Sanchez, were taken into custody following a seven-hour standoff with the Inglewood Police Department’s SWAT team.

The incident occurred early on March 3, 2025, around 3:22 a.m., when 44-year-old Juan Miguel Sanchez was shot and killed as he tried to stop a catalytic converter theft in progress outside his residence in the 1000 block of North Chester Avenue. Authorities said Sanchez, who was on his way to work, heard a noise and attempted to intervene before he was shot in the chest.

Surveillance footage captured the suspects fleeing the scene, and Ring camera footage helped identify them. Sanchez, who had recently received a promotion at Clean Harbors, leaves behind a wife, two children, and a grandson.

The deadly shooting has sparked comparisons to another high-profile killing in Los Angeles, where actor Johnny Wactor was killed in a similar theft attempt in May 2024.
