Two Arrested in ₹1.13 Crore Extortion Scam Targeting Udupi Doctor

The Udupi Cyber Economic and Narcotic Crime (CEN) police have arrested two individuals from Gujarat in connection with the extortion of Rs1.13 crore from a local doctor. The suspects, identified as Navadiya Mukesh Bhai Ganesh Bhai, 44, from Surat, and Dharamjeet Kamalesh Chowhan, 28, from Rajkot, allegedly posed as Customs officials and virtually confined the doctor in his home.

During the operation, the police seized five mobile phones and Rs13.95 lakh in cash from the arrested individuals. This case highlights the increasing trend of cyber crimes involving impersonation and extortion, prompting law enforcement to intensify their efforts in tackling such fraudulent activities.
