JOHNSON COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — Two individuals have been arrested following an investigation into the delivery of prison contraband and trafficking methamphetamine, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).
The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) received information on February 5 that 35-year-old Jeremiah Shad Garnto was using drones to drop contraband at various prisons across Georgia. Garnto, who previously served time for similar offenses, was found to be in possession of a large drone.
On February 6, local authorities, after obtaining a search waiver under the 4th Amendment, searched Garnto’s home in Adrian, Georgia. During the search, officers seized a large plastic bag containing 1.5 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, a stolen firearm from Laurens County, another firearm, and the large drone used for the deliveries.
Garnto faces charges related to methamphetamine trafficking and the illegal delivery of contraband to prisons.
