Two Arrested for Drug Trafficking in Himachal, 13.42 gm Heroin Seized

On March 22, local police arrested two individuals, Naresh Kumar (38) from Shimla and Gaurav Sharma (33) from Solan, for their involvement in drug trafficking. The police recovered 13.42 grams of heroin from their possession during the operation.

Investigations revealed that the accused had been procuring drugs from Zirakpur and distributing them across Himachal Pradesh and Panchkula. Acting on a tip-off, the police set up a checkpoint near Gaushala, Sector 23, where they apprehended the two men. A search of their vehicle revealed the heroin stash.

As the duo was unable to provide legal documentation for the drugs, a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was filed at Chandimandir police station. Kumar and Sharma were presented in court, where they were remanded to three days in police custody for further investigation. Authorities are working to identify additional members of the drug trafficking network and trace the areas where the drugs were distributed.
