Two Arrested After Police Officer Assaulted During Domestic Dispute

HURON, Calif. (KFSN) – Two individuals are in custody after a police officer was assaulted during a domestic violence arrest in Huron on Saturday night.

Around 10 pm, officers responded to a call at Parkside Apartments on Giffen Drive about a fight between a man and a woman. When officers attempted to arrest 27-year-old Joel Martinez for domestic violence, he resisted arrest and continued to struggle even after being handcuffed.

In the midst of the struggle, the woman involved in the altercation allegedly approached an officer and pushed him while he was trying to control Martinez.

Both individuals were taken into custody. Martinez was arrested on domestic violence charges, while the woman was charged with battery on a peace officer. The couple was booked into the Fresno County Jail.
