In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Tripura Police arrested three individuals and seized a staggering 1.06 lakh yaba tablets, valued at over Rs 5 crore, in the early hours of Thursday in the Maheskhala area of Agartala.
According to West District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar, the seizure was made after a raid based on specific intelligence at the residence of Md Babul Miah (45), where a significant stash of contraband was recovered.
“During the operation, we recovered 1.06 lakh yaba tablets with a market value of Rs5 crore. Along with Babul Miah, we arrested two other suspects, Sanjay Miah (42) and Sipan Hossein (26). Several mobile phones and motorcycles linked to the drug operation were also confiscated,” Kumar stated. A special case has been registered, and the arrested individuals will be presented before the court.
This drug bust is part of a broader effort to tackle narcotics in the region.
