In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Tripura Police arrested three youths with a large quantity of narcotics in Battala Bazar, the capital’s bustling market area. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sahadeb Debnath, Ankit Dev, and Suman Ghosh.
According to police sources, the trio had been involved in selling narcotics near the Battala Howrah Market for a considerable time. Acting on a tip-off, a joint operation was launched by the Battala Outpost and West Agartala Police Station on Friday, leading to their arrest. They were caught red-handed while conducting illicit drug transactions.
A substantial quantity of narcotics was seized from their possession. Authorities have registered a case under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The police have initiated a thorough investigation to determine whether additional individuals are part of the drug peddling network. Interrogations are ongoing, and further follow-up actions are expected as law enforcement works to dismantle the racket.
