Trio Arrested for Murder and Robbery of Businessman in North Delhi

Three men, including a quack and two ward boys, were arrested for the murder of a 68-year-old businessman during a robbery in north Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla area. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Pravez Alam (27), a quack who runs a clinic in Muzaffarnagar, UP, and ward boys Mohammad Nasir (30) and Nikhil Kumar (19).

Police were alerted on February 1 through a PCR call regarding the murder. A team was dispatched to the crime scene, an office at the Vivekanandpuri shopping complex, Sarai Rohilla, where they found the body of the deceased, Ranbir Singh, a businessman from Moti Bagh. Singh’s son grew suspicious after an ultrasound machine was found missing from the office.

DCP (north) Raja Banthia stated that over 300 CCTV footages were reviewed, which helped track the movements of the suspects. The investigation identified three men seen near the scene shortly before the murder, traveling in a car. A subsequent raid in Bhagra, Muzaffarnagar led to the men’s arrest and recovery of the stolen items, including the ultrasound machine. The car was also seized.

The investigation revealed that Alam, the main conspirator, needed to buy an ultrasound machine for his clinic. Alam had researched Singh’s office online and tried to purchase the equipment eight months prior, but the deal fell through. He then conspired with his two associates to rob the victim of the machine and a laptop. On the day of the incident, the trio visited Singh’s office under the guise of negotiating the purchase. They overpowered Singh, strangled him, injected him with a syringe to incapacitate him, and fled with the stolen items.

Police have successfully recovered the ultrasound machine and other electronic items from the accused.
