Trio Arrested After Fleeing Police in Daytona Beach Theft Case

Three suspects were arrested Monday in connection with a series of retail thefts in Daytona Beach and Port Orange, following a police pursuit.

Port Orange police detectives were investigating an organized retail theft crew when they tracked the suspects to a Bath & Body Works store. As police attempted to intervene, the suspects fled the scene in a white Ford Fusion.

Despite a traffic stop, the driver evaded officers, running red lights and speeding away. Officers deployed stop sticks, deflating the vehicle’s tires. The suspects discarded stolen goods from the car windows until the vehicle became inoperable.

The driver eventually stopped in a nearby neighborhood, where all three suspects—Kayvon Brown, 27, Alexus Jones, 26, and Zevante Taylor, 31—were arrested without incident.

Brown faces charges of fleeing or attempting to elude and driving without a license, while Jones and Taylor face charges of grand theft. Taylor is also charged with tampering with evidence.

All three suspects were booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail, and investigations into previous thefts involving the trio are ongoing. Further charges may follow.
