In a major crackdown, Trichy city police have arrested three individuals involved in the trafficking of prescription drugs in the Golden Rock area. Police seized more than 2,000 tablets during the operation on Sunday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as D Chandru (20) from Kottapattu, A Rohith John (20) from Ponmalaipatti, and R Vino (30) from Ragavendrapuram. The trio was found to be distributing prescription drugs intended for intoxication to local drug addicts.

The police team intercepted Chandru and Rohith during a routine vehicle inspection near Saibaba temple in Ponmalaipatti on Sunday evening. Upon questioning, the officers noticed wounds on Chandru’s forearms, which he admitted were from frequently injecting prescription drugs mixed with water for intoxication.

A total of 18 tapentadol tablets were seized from the duo, leading investigators to further probe their supplier, Vino. The police then instructed Chandru to contact Vino via WhatsApp, pretending to need more tablets. Vino agreed to meet them near Srirangam, where he was detained by the police.

The suspects have been arrested, and investigations are ongoing to uncover more details of the drug trafficking network.
