Trevaughn Yearwood Arrested for Attempted $30,000 Online Scam in Pa.

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – Trevaughn Yearwood, 27, of Houston, Texas, was arrested after allegedly attempting to steal $30,000 from a woman in Clearfield County through an online scam.

The incident began after the victim, who had withdrawn a total of $59,000 from her bank accounts, reported a fraud situation. She told police that she was contacted by a man who claimed she owed money for a condo. The man instructed her to withdraw large amounts of money, and a courier would come to collect it.

When Yearwood arrived at her home, the victim handed him $59,200, as per the scammer’s instructions. Later, she was told to withdraw additional money, which she did, managing to take out $30,000 before police intervened.

Officers set up surveillance and observed Yearwood meeting the victim at her garage door to collect the money. They then followed him and arrested him after a traffic stop. In his vehicle, police found a brown paper bag containing the $30,000.

Yearwood was charged with theft by deception and criminal use of a communication facility. He was denied bail due to being considered an extreme flight risk. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 26.
