Topeka Man, Shawn M. Ward, Arrested for Aggravated Burglary and Motor Vehicle Theft

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Topeka Police arrested a 26-year-old man, Shawn M. Ward, in connection to aggravated burglary and motor vehicle theft following a traffic stop attempt on Thursday, August 8.

Around 3:15 p.m., officers responded to a traffic-related call from the 2900 block of SW 31st Ct. They attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Ward, but he failed to comply and fled the scene. Ward, a Topeka resident, was later apprehended with the help of additional units called in to assist.

Ward was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. He faces the following charges:

Aggravated burglary
Misdemeanor theft from a building
Felony theft of a motor vehicle
Criminal use of a financial card
Criminal trespass
Felony obstruction; interference with a Law Enforcement Officer
Ward’s arrest marks the resolution of an investigation into several criminal activities in the Topeka area. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
