Topeka Man Arrested for Cellphone Theft After Fleeing Officers

Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) — A man was arrested for cellphone theft after he fled from officers in downtown Topeka on Monday morning.

Manuel E. Breedlove, 35, of Topeka, was taken into custody after Topeka police responded to a disturbance around 11 a.m. at the Quincy Street Station, the main hub for Topeka Metro buses at 820 S.E. Quincy.

A woman reported that her cellphone had been stolen, and the suspect fled the area. Police quickly located Breedlove nearby, but he ran on foot. Officers soon apprehended him, and he was booked into Shawnee County Jail.

Topeka police spokeswoman Rosie Nichols confirmed that Breedlove was arrested and booked, but further details were not immediately available.
