TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG/Gray News) – Dr. Andrew Campbell, a fellow in the Hematology-Oncology program at the University of Toledo Medical Center, has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest in connection with an arson incident. The 33-year-old doctor from Toledo is accused of setting fire to the home of a fellow local doctor.
Authorities responded to the fire on December 7, 2024, in Sylvania Township. After investigating the blaze, which was deemed “not accidental,” police identified Campbell as the primary suspect. He has since been charged with arson and aggravated arson in Sylvania Municipal Court.
The fire caused significant damage, rendering the home uninhabitable. The property remains boarded up. Following his arrest, Campbell was released on a $250,000 bond and ordered to have no contact with the victim. His case has now been transferred to the Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
The University of Toledo issued a statement, confirming that Campbell was placed on administrative leave without pay on December 20, 2024. The university declined to comment further as the investigation continues.
