The Tilak Park New Extension police have successfully dismantled a drug racket and arrested seven individuals, including a medical representative, for allegedly peddling painkiller tablets as substitutes for illegal drugs in and around the town.
The main accused in the operation is Bhanuprakash, a salesman at a medical store, who is believed to have masterminded the racket. He was arrested along with Raghavendra, a medical representative working for a pharmaceutical company, who is suspected of supplying the painkiller tablets.
The police discovered that the gang was involved in distributing these tablets as a cheaper, illegal alternative to traditional narcotics, targeting vulnerable individuals in the area. The operation, which was conducted after an extensive investigation, led to the arrest of the gang members, with further raids planned to uncover more details of the operation.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the network that facilitated the sale of these dangerous substitutes, which posed significant health risks to users. The police are expected to provide more details as the investigation progresses.
