Tilak Kumar Singh Arrested in Gorakhpur Job Scam Case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Bihar Police has apprehended Tilak Kumar Singh from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in a job scam that resulted in the captivity and sexual exploitation of several young women in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.

The arrest was part of an ongoing investigation into a racket that lured victims with false promises of employment. The SIT, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Vinita Sinha, is also pursuing nine additional suspects following court directives.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP-City) Awadhesh Dixit, Singh first contacted a survivor via social media in June 2022, inviting her to Muzaffarpur for a promising job opportunity. However, upon her arrival, she reported being assaulted repeatedly over several months.

The survivor’s complaint detailed that she and others were promised positions at a call center but were instead confined to a room where they faced physical and sexual abuse. The accused are linked to a fraudulent marketing company.

“Eight other suspects remain at large, and we are actively searching for them. The complainant has informed us that the group enticed young women with lucrative job offers through phone calls. We are committed to apprehending all involved, including Manish Kumar, the firm’s owner,” Dixit stated.

The survivor recounted that when she and the others inquired about their salaries, they were told they were now part of the firm. She eventually escaped and reported the incident to the police. Initially, her complaint was not accepted, prompting her to seek legal recourse through the court.
