Tiffany Prentice Cooper & John Smith Arrested After Florence Standoff

FLORENCE, S.C. – Two suspects, Tiffany Prentice Cooper, 37, and John C. Smith, 38, were arrested Wednesday after a four-hour standoff with law enforcement at a residence in Florence County.

Tiffany Prentice Cooper’s Charges & Arrest
Cooper was sentenced in June 2023 for distributing methamphetamine and narcotics, receiving a split sentence of 10 years—serving four years in prison and four years on probation. After missing a probation hearing on March 14, 2024, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Despite being ordered to turn herself in, Cooper refused, leading law enforcement to conduct a warrant service at the residence. Officers deployed multiple rounds of CS gas, forcing her to exit the home, where she was taken into custody and transported to the Florence County Detention Center.

She now faces additional charges, including:

Three counts of failing to appear for probation revocation

Violation of probation

Resisting arrest

Aggravated breach of peace

John Smith’s Charges & Arrest
Smith was originally sentenced to probation for second-degree domestic violence in June 2023, but soon after, he violated his terms by missing reports, using drugs, and failing to disclose his whereabouts. His probation violations resulted in multiple warrants, and he was placed in the National Crime Information Center database.

After a series of missed court appearances, a bench warrant was issued for Smith. On Wednesday, authorities attempted to serve the warrant, leading to a four-hour standoff before Smith was apprehended.

He now faces charges for:

Failure to appear for probation revocation

Violation of probation

Resisting arrest

Breach of peace

Both Cooper and Smith remain in custody at the Florence County Detention Center as the investigation continues.
