Thrissur Police Seize 2.5 kg of MDMA in Major Drug Bust

The city police, alongside the district’s anti-narcotics squad, have arrested a man in Thrissur with 2.5 kg of MDMA, marking one of the largest drug busts in Kerala’s history. The suspect, Fazil, a native of Payyyannur in Kannur, was apprehended during a vehicle inspection in Ollur on Tuesday night.

During the operation, officials discovered 9,000 MDMA tablets in his possession. The investigation began following a tip-off about ongoing drug trafficking activities in the Thrissur area. Fazil was intercepted while driving from Ernakulam to Thrissur, where police initially seized a few MDMA tablets from his car.

A subsequent search of his residence in Aluva uncovered additional drug pills, bringing the total confiscated to approximately 2.5 kg. Fazil is believed to be a wholesaler who sources large quantities of MDMA from Goa for distribution across Kerala.

Authorities are also conducting searches at his home in Kannur to gather further evidence. Thrissur City Police Commissioner R. Ilango is scheduled to hold a press conference on Wednesday to provide more details about the case.
