Three Bike Lifters Arrested in Meghalaya: Police Recover Stolen Items

In a successful joint operation led by Basistha Police Station and assisted by Meghalaya Police, three suspected bike lifters were apprehended in Rymbai village, located in the East Khasi Hills. The arrested individuals were identified as Wiveky Thoo (34), Hemonme Thoo (31), and Argent Nongtdu (31).

The police discovered a range of stolen items during the operation, including a red Splendor motorcycle, a complete thief’s toolkit (including screwdrivers, pliers, and a wrench), Rs. 1.49 lakh in cash, and three mobile phones. The authorities are continuing their investigation to gather more information about their involvement in other criminal activities.

In a separate but related case, the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) team of Basistha Police Station managed to recover a stolen scooty (AS01EX1673) within just 24 hours of it being reported missing in Khanapara. Acting on precise intelligence, the police traced the vehicle to Jogdol in Sonapur and arrested two individuals, Mondip Konwar (24) and Damun Rabha (30), in connection with the theft. The scooty was recovered, and the suspects are now facing legal action.

Additionally, in another case handled by the EGPD team at the Bhagaduttapur Outpost, a thief named Biswajit Basfor (26) was arrested in Kahilipara. A stolen iPad was recovered from his possession. The police have initiated legal proceedings, with further investigation into his criminal background.

Meanwhile, the authorities are still searching for Monirul Islam, a thief who managed to escape from the Kokila Police Outpost in Bongaigaon. This has raised concerns about security protocols at police stations.
