Three Arrested in Telecommunication Cable Thefts in Morgantown, WV

MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) – Three individuals have been arrested in connection with a series of telecommunication cable thefts in Monongalia County, and authorities are asking the public for assistance in locating one more suspect.

According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office, Garrett Weeder, 35, of Gans, Pa.; Jeffrey Howell, 38, of Uniontown, Pa.; and Saviour McDonald, 25, of Morgantown, have been arrested for stealing copper from telecommunication cables. The stolen copper was sold to scrap yards for profit, causing significant damage and disruption to the area’s infrastructure.

Law enforcement is also searching for Ronald “Buddy” Boyer, 42, who is wanted on multiple charges, including grand larceny, felony destruction of property, attempted grand larceny, and two counts of conspiracy. Boyer is known to have ties to Morgantown and is originally from Point Marion, Pa.
