Three Arrested in Phagwara for Injecting Drugs into Shiv Charan, Leading to Death

In Phagwara, three youths have been arrested in connection with the tragic death of Shiv Charan, a 24-year-old resident of Rampur-Sunrra village. The arrest follows a complaint lodged by Shiv Charan’s father, Sukhwinder Ram, alleging that his son was injected with drugs by his three friends, leading to his death.

Shiv Charan was found dead on Monday evening in a village field, with a syringe found near his body. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Phagwara, where the Emergency Medical Officer declared him dead upon arrival, attributing the cause of death to a drug overdose.

Sukhwinder Ram accused the three youths — Harwinder Ram, Manjinder Singh, and Jaswinder — all residents of Rampur-Sunrra, of injecting intoxicants into his son. The police have registered a case under Sections 105 and 3(5) of the BNS Act and have arrested the three individuals.

Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti confirmed the allegations and said the police are continuing their investigation. Meanwhile, an autopsy was performed on Tuesday evening, and viscera samples have been sent to a laboratory in Kharar to determine the exact cause of death. All three arrested youths, known to be involved in the drug trade, have been sent to judicial custody.
