Three people were arrested in Jefferson County after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a large quantity of marijuana on Wednesday.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported that vice and narcotics detectives stopped a vehicle on Interstate 20 East near Kilgore Memorial Drive. During the stop, officers recovered 50 pounds (22,679 grams) of marijuana.
The suspects arrested include 41-year-old Alexandro Marcos Favela, 42-year-old Dennis Alexander Marroquin, and 41-year-old Yolanda Alessandra Tapia Fevela. Favela faces charges of drug trafficking with a $500,000 bond. Both Marroquin and Tapia were charged with drug trafficking and held without bond.
In addition to the drugs, the sheriff’s office seized $5,727 in cash. All three suspects are being held at the Jefferson County Jail.
